Electronic Cigarettes: Is a throat hit good?

I have been reading a lot online about Electronic Cigarettes and it seems that there are a lot of people talking about getting throat hits. People seem to be gauging how good an E-Cig is by how good of a throat hit that it gives you. I have even seen more than a few people raving about how a great throat hit almost brought tears to their eyes.
In the past I have smoked for over 25 years, and had never wanted to smoke something that was going to give me a throat hit. I have smoked some of the harshest types of cigarettes too. I used to smoke Camel Cigarettes and have also been known to smoke Clove Cigarettes. They don’t come too much harsher than a Clove Cigarette, since one Clove Cigarette is equivalent to a full pack of cigarettes.
Now when I am smoking my Electronic Cigarette, I am looking for it to have good quality in a few areas: long lasting, a good flavor, a sufficient level of nicotine, and a good amount of vapor produced. These are how I determine that I have the right Electronic Cigarette for me.
I have had the option of trying Electronic Cigarettes that have given a really harsh throat hit. Almost to the point where it felt like it was scratching the flesh off the inside of my throat. I wasn’t even able to taste the flavor from the cartridge. This was not a feeling that I have come to enjoy. Why would someone want to wince in pain when they are doing something for enjoyment? Personally, I would rather have an E-Cig that is smoother than one that gives a powerful throat hit.

Hey man I can understand where your coming from. I am new to E Cigs and when i first smoked it, it was in fact hurting my throat. I did a little searching online and i read that drawing the Vapor into your mouth and then inhaling will keep it from killing your throat. I tried this and it really does work. I can say now that I am happily vaping away and it doesnt bother me at all. As far as the throat hit goes. I noticed that if your just fill the cart and if you dont directly drip, you wont get to much of a throat hit. I personally like getting a good throat hit so Im always topping off and dripping onto the atomizer. If you dont do this, you should have a relativly smooth smoke. When you first fill a cart, you may get a throat hit for the first couple drags but it will go away if you dont continue to top the cart off. I hope this helped. So far, i am extremely pleased with E cigs and i would reccomend them to anyone that doesnt want to continue killing themselves. I have asthma and i love smoking…this works great for me. Havent had any problems with my asthma ever since i started. Cheers.
I couldn’t agree with you more! My wife wants to quit but can’t stand the harsh throat hit form her e-cig.
I don’t notice it that much but she’s very picky and extremely sensitive.
I’ve read on forums about modifying the cartridge using a straw and making precision cuts in it.
Surely there has got to be a better way!
Actually a Throat hit is to simulate real smoking. If you took a big hit off an analog cig and inhaled, it would give you a good “throat hit”. I am trying to find liquid that gives a good throat hit.
I think that people are looking for a way to emulate the lung burn that regular cigarettes give you. You know when you drink and you really want a cigarette. Not to imply that all smokers drink.
I tried this e-cigarette. There is no throat hit. Very smooth flavor and able to have great long pulls. I used to smoke non filter, roll your own, and this is so much better.
